About Stillwater Bookkeeping
Hi, I’m Derya, the founder of Stillwater Bookkeeping.
Originally from Turkiye, I moved to Australia 10 years ago and have since built my career across different regions. I spent four years working in Sydney, followed by two years in Broome, and since 2022 I have been based in Perth, which I now proudly call home.
Throughout my career, I’ve supported businesses across all aspects of financial and operational management, including accounts receivable and payable, payroll, onboarding and offboarding, bank reconciliations, and POS system reconciliations. Over time, my responsibilities expanded into full end to end finance functions. I also spent seven years working at the head office of one of Turkiye’s largest FMCG companies in Istanbul, where I gained strong exposure to a corporate environment. This experience, combined with my work in small and multi site businesses, has given me a well rounded perspective on both structured corporate systems and the practical challenges smaller businesses face, and where gaps often arise.
I hold a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). I am currently completing a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping in Australia as part of my pathway to becoming a registered BAS Agent. In the meantime, I provide services under the supervision of a registered BAS Agent, ensuring full compliance with Australian regulatory requirements.
I bring over 14 years of experience in finance across manufacturing, FMCG, and multi site hospitality environments, where I’ve partnered with business owners and operational teams to improve financial clarity, strengthen systems, and support sustainable growth. This experience has also given me a deep understanding of the challenges business owners face, particularly when balancing operations, staff, and growth while trying to stay on top of their finances without the right systems in place.
I resigned from my Finance Lead position in April 2026, where I was responsible for the full finance function across an ale house, a brewery and a restaurant within the same group, including month end closing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management. I chose to establish my own bookkeeping firm to create a more balanced and intentional way of working, while offering business owners reliable and professional financial support.
